Evernight by Claudia Gray

Bianca wants to escape. She’s been uprooted from her small hometown and enrolled at Evernight Academy, and eerie Gothic boarding school where the students are somehow too perfect: smart, sleek, and almost predatory. Bianca knows she doesn’t fit in.

Then she meets Lucas. He’s not the “Evernight type” either, and he likes it that way. Lucas ignores the rules, stands up to the snobs and warns Bianca to be careful--even when it comes to caring about him.

“ I couldn’t stand it if they took it out on you,” he tells Bianca, “and eventually they would.”

But the connection between Bianca and Lucas can’t be denied. Bianca will risk anything to be with Lucas, but dark secrets are fated to tear them apart…and to make Bianca question everything she’s ever believed.

Evernight is a great new twist on the always changing Vampire genre. I really enjoyed the book the story is unique and it really held my attention from the first page. Bianaca and Lucas's characters were amazing and I loved the twist that the author used that revealed more about their characters and made the story more interesting. I definantly reccommend Evernight to all fans of the Twilight series, you won't be disappointed. I'm really excited that there is going to be a sequel to Evernight, its called Stargazer and will be released in March 2009.

Lol, if it's better than Twilight, I'll read it!

This is the only vampire book that I would consider buying before checking my library. I have had this on my Wishlist/To-Read-List for months now. I have got to get my hands on it!

For some reason this summary reminds me of PC Cast's book, The House of Night series. Maybe it's just me ;)

Ahh, this sounds so good. Since you like fantasy/scary stores so much, you should check out some of Lois Duncan's books. They're amazing. One of hers, called Down a Dark Hall, takes place in a boarding school.

I'm glad you liked Evernight. I've been purposely avoiding vampire books since there seem to be so many now, but I think I'll give it a chance :)

I second Diana Dang's comment. I'm not much for fantasy and tried out Twilight and didn't like it much. I don't know if this would be one of my first choices for a fantasy book.

I loved Evernight. And honestly it takes the fun out of reading a book about vampires if you compare it to Twilight. Can't wait for Stargazer!

I, too, really enjoyed this book! I never read a vampire book (or had the desire to) until the Twilight series. Now I've read several and loved them all! Evernight was great. I love the way assume the story is one way and then half-way through the book you realize how wrong your assumption was . . . and then the twist at the end - WOW! That was great! We've actually got Claudia Gray scheduled to do a Q&A with us in the coming months . . . and a possible ARC of Stargazer to give away! So keep up with us at myfavoriteauthor.blogspot.com!

Great Review!

I thought Evernight was way better than Twilight, too. Also, I can't wait to read Stargazer.

I love reading about vampires, especially if special vampire schools are involved! This book is on my list of books to read.

I've just finished Evernight and it definately pulled you in. I was actually online to see if the next book was out yet!

I've also read the Twilight series and the House of Night series, and this book is really differnt from those. To me, it's kinda like what could happen if Twilight went really wrong in a setting similar to House of Night. lol Don't get me wrong, these characters have their own unique personalities, problems, and secrets. Readers will find themselves with a hundred theories and several surprises.

Read it. ^_^
